Services

At Hornsby Veterinary Hospital we aim to offer professional care and service in all areas. We are an A Class hospital and some of our services are:

General Consultations

We have three consultation rooms and appointments are appreciated. The standard consultation is 15 minutes but extended consultations are also available.

Surgical

We have a dedicated sterile surgery where we can perform a wide range of surgical procedures. These range from complex orthopaedic surgeries to more routine desexing operations. Specialist referral is also an option for the most difficult neurosurgical or orthopaedic procedures. Peri-operative pain relief is used when needed.

 Medical

We diagnose and treat a wide range of medical problems. Unfortunately our pets cannot talk, so a thorough clinical examination and often other tests are needed to make a precise diagnosis. Some examples of medical problems are Diabetes, liver and kidney disease and thyroid problems.

 Pathology

We have “in - house” pathology machines which can perform a wide range of blood tests and biochemical analyses. If needed, we also have a twice daily pickup service from an external Veterinary Pathology Laboratory.

 Dental

An air driven, human dental unit allows us to perform a wide range of dental procedures.

 Radiology / X-Ray

This X-Ray is back to front

We have a dedicated radiology suite where diagnostic radiographs are taken. X-rays are used in a wide range of medical and surgical problems.

 Ultrasound

This is a very precise diagnostic tool. We have visiting specialists who perform our ultrasounds on Tuesdays and Fridays.

 Acupuncture

This ancient art can be used in the treatment of many medical and musculoskeletal conditions. We provide this service as an adjunct to other conventional therapies.

 Nutrition

We can advise on all aspects of your pet’s nutrition. A puppy or kitten requires a very different diet from an elderly pet! We stock a wide range of foods suitable for all life stages along with many prescription diets

.

 Behavioural Problems

Behavioural problems are becoming more common and usually require a dedicated extended consultation as many cannot be resolved during routine vaccination.

 Puppy Classes

These are run at the Hospital by a specialist dog trainer. They are very popular and help your new pup to get off on the right paw!

 Boarding

We board small numbers of cats and dogs in our boarding facility. Cats are housed in comfortable cages while the dogs are in inside runs. Our dog boarders are walked twice daily and can be bathed on request before going home.

 Hospitalisation

Our hygienic, stainless steel cages provide comfortable quarters for our hospitalised patients. The hospital is airconditioned to provide a pleasant temperature for all. Where appropriate, we encourage owners to visit their pets in hospital. In most cases, this makes both parties feel much happier.

 Merchandise

We have a good selection of pet accessories such as leads, collars and toys.

Products to stimulate your pet, provide environmental enrichment, improve bonding through play and training as well harness and leads for safe management when out and about..

 Specialists

We have close contact with specialists in all fields. In some cases it is appropriate for us to refer a case to a specialist for ongoing treatment. At other times we will discuss the case on the phone and continue treatment under their guidance.

 House Calls & Pick-ups

During the week we can offer this service to our clients. House calls need to be booked in advance and attract an extra fee
